This marks the 20th anniversary of this wonderful concert, yes it was 20 years ago folks! Incredible playing by these musicians – Francoise Pujol who is my personal favorite pianist in France today – Jazz and Classical. Along with her emerging star musicians: Bassist Richard Bona the phenom bass player born in Cameroon and now living in Brooklyn, and the very tasteful drumming (and sometimes explosive!) of Francis Lassus of Paris.
Recorded in one of Germany’s best studios, the quartet present rich, heartfelt perfomances and infuse the music with a fresh and vibrant sound.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tal_Farlow
Talmage Holt Farlow (June 7, 1921 – July 25, 1998) was an American jazz guitarist. Nicknamed the “Octopus”, for his extremely large hands spread over the fretboard as if they were tentacles, he is considered one of the all-time great jazz guitarists. Where other similar players of his day combined rhythmic chords with linear melodies, Farlow preferred placing single notes together in clusters, varying between harmonically richened tones based on a startling new technique.
Biography

Farlow was born in Greensboro, North Carolina in 1921. Nearly as famous for his reluctance to perform publicly as for his outstanding abilities, he did not take up the instrument until he was 21, but within a year was playing professionally and in 1948 was with Marjorie Hyams’ band. While with the Red Norvo Trio from 1949–1953, Farlow became famous in the jazz world. His huge hands and ability to play rapid yet light lines, which earned him the nickname “Octopus”, made him one of the top guitarists of the era. After six months with Artie Shaw’s Gramercy Five in 1953, Farlow put together his own group, which for a time included pianist Eddie Costa.
In 1958, Farlow retired from full-time performing and settled in Sea Bright, New Jersey, returning to a career as a sign painter. He continued to play occasional dates in local clubs, however.[1] In 1962 the Gibson Guitar Corporation, with Farlow’s participation, produced the “Tal Farlow” model in their prestigious Artist Model line. The guitar seen in the picture at right is a prototype model. The production model has a mandolin-style scroll at the top of the body.
Farlow only made one record as a leader during 1960–1975, but emerged a bit more often during 1976–1984, recording for Concord fairly regularly before largely disappearing again. He was profiled in the documentary film, Talmage Farlow, made in 1980/81. The guitarist can be heard on his records for Blue Note (a 10″ LP in 1954), Norgran (later Verve, 1954–60), and Prestige (1969), aa well those for Concord. He died of cancer at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City on July 25, 1998 at the age of 77.[2]

Born in Panama, Cobham’s family moved to New York City during his early childhood. A drummer from his youth, Cobham attended New York’s High School of Music and Art, graduating in 1962.
He played in a U.S. Army Band from 1965 to 1968. Following his discharge, Cobham joined an ensemble led by pianist Horace Silver for about a year, also playing or recording with saxophonist Stanley Turrentine, organist Shirley Scott, and guitarist George Benson.

This Impromptu Jam with 3 greats BILL COBHAM, DOUG WIMBISH & JOE BERGER happened at Gibson Guitar Party in Frankfurt Germany, captured by Jon Hammond originally shown on The Jon Hammond Show *24th year NYC. COBHAM born May 16, 1944 in Panama, is one of the world’s best and most influential drummers known for his jazz fusion in the 1970s, with John McLaughlin’s Mahavishnu Orchestra, where he pioneered a powerful style of drumming with jazz, rock and funk influences has an enormous Discography. WIMBISH (born September 22, 1956) is a bass player, primarily known for his studio work for the rap/hip hop label Sugarhill Records and his membership of the band Living Colour. He has played for a vast range of artists, among which Jeff Beck, Mick Jagger, Madonna, George Clinton, Depeche Mode, and Mos Def. Wimbish is considered to be a pioneer in hip hop bass playing.
BERGER has engineered mixed and mastered thousands of recordings and played with John Entwistle of THE WHO and member of JON HAMMOND Band. Seen here playing a special Gibson LES PAUL, whom (Les) Joe has also worked with and Paul has appeared on Hammond’s long-running cable tv show in NYC.

Meet The Incredible Sk1 Hammond with Michael Falkenstein and Jon Hammond
    Filmed in Hammond-Showroom Karlstrasse 38
    D-89129 Langenau Germany on April 19th 2011
“Meet The Incredible Sk1 Hammond with Michael Falkenstein and Jon Hammond”
First look at this exciting new keyboard product weighing in at 7 kilos, just over 15 lbs., it sounds like a real Hammond B3 organ with Leslie, or a full size grand piano, any type of famous vintage electric piano or synthesizer. This keyboard does it all and with original Hammond drawbars and it’s feather light. Sk1 has a built in USB flash drive input, the keys are ‘bullet proof’ waterfall style keys that can hold up to extreme pressure of rockin’ rock musicians, swinging jazz musicians and can even sound like a huge pipe organ. This film will blow your mind.

It opened its doors in 1961 at 147 Bleecker Street under the auspices of owner Fred Weintraub. The club changed its name to The Other End during the 1970s. However eventually after a few years the owners changed the club’s name back to the more recognizable Bitter End. History An earlier club, “The Cock and Bull” operated on the same premises with the same format, in the late 1950s. The poet/comedian Hugh Romney (who later became known as Wavy Gravy) read there. During the early 1960s the club hosted Folk music “hootenanies” every Tuesday night, featuring many performers who have since become legendary. During its heyday the Bitter End showcased a wide range of talented and legendary musicians, comedians, and theatrical performers.[1] In 1968 Paul Colby, who began his career as a song plugger for Benny Goodman’s publishing company, and went on to work for Frank Sinatra, Duke Ellington, and Guy Lombardo, became the manager and booking agent at The Bitter End, and in 1974 he purchased it.[2][3] In the mid 1970s, the club became known as the birthplace of Bob Dylans Rolling Thunder Revue, which featured such names as Joni Mitchell, Roger McGuinn, Ramblin’ Jack Elliot, Joan Baez, T-Bone Burnett, Ronee Blakely, Mick Ronson, and many other guest stars. The City of New York bestowed landmark status to the night club on July 23, 1992. It shows why the Hammond organ is one of the most enduring electric instruments and why Hammond is one of its best players.” http://www.viddler.com/v/364ac2e9
