Meet The Incredible Sk1 Hammond with Michael Falkenstein and Jon Hammond

Filmed in Hammond-Showroom Karlstrasse 38

“Meet The Incredible Sk1 Hammond with Michael Falkenstein and Jon Hammond”
First look at this exciting new keyboard product weighing in at 7 kilos, just over 15 lbs., it sounds like a real Hammond B3 organ with Leslie, or a full size grand piano, any type of famous vintage electric piano or synthesizer. This keyboard does it all and with original Hammond drawbars and it’s feather light. Sk1 has a built in USB flash drive input, the keys are ‘bullet proof’ waterfall style keys that can hold up to extreme pressure of rockin’ rock musicians, swinging jazz musicians and can even sound like a huge pipe organ. This film will blow your mind.

“FRANCE HONORS MUSICIAN
ANGELIQUE KIDJO
WITH THE ORDER OF ARTS AND LETTERS

New York, May 6, 2011—On Wednesday, May 11, Antonin Baudry, Cultural Counselor of the Embassy of France, will confer upon internationally acclaimed artist, Angélique Kidjo, the insignia of Officer of the Order of Arts and Letters for her musicianship, her dedication to humanitarian causes, and, more generally, for her efforts to further the arts in France and throughout the world.

Born in the West African city of Ouidah, in Benin, Mrs. Kidjo grew up during the 1960’s, a radical period of change across the African continent. She released her first album at age 20 with the help of her brother and went on to pursue music in Paris, first at Les Ateliers-Chansons (The Song Studios) and then at CIM (school of jazz and contemporary music).

Today, she has become an influential musician on a global scale, known for her dynamic performances and diverse musical influences, which range from Congolese rumba and Afro-pop, to jazz, gospel, and Latin styles. Her numerous projects include collaborations with musicians such as Bono, Peter Gabriel, Carlos Santana, Ziggi Marley, Alicia Keys, Dianne Reeves, Josh Groban, Herbie Hancock, and Youssou N’Dour. She has received countless awards from around the globe for her musical merits including a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary World Music Album in 2008 and the French Grand Prix de la SACEM (Grand Prize from SACEM) in 2010.

Among her many notable humanitarian achievements, Mrs. Kidjo is a Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF. She founded The Batonga Foundation in 2007 to support secondary school and higher education for girls in Africa. She also composed the song, “You Can Count on Me”, for the launch of UNICEF’s 2009 campaign to eliminate tetanus.

The Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (Order of Arts and Letters) was created in 1957 to recognize eminent artists and writers, as well as individuals who have contributed to the recognition of French culture in the world. The Order is given out twice annually to only a few hundred people worldwide. Several Americans have received the award, including Paul Auster, Ornette Coleman, Agnes Gund, Marilyn Horne, Jim Jarmusch, Richard Meier, Robert Paxton, Robert Redford, Meryl Streep, and Uma Thurman”
special thanks merci beaucoup: Paula Cianci, Judith Walker, Amaury Laporte, sound by Danny Garcia, Antonin Baudry, Cultural Counselor of the Embassy of France 15 minutes http://www.HammondCast.com/

Late Rent
(Ham-Berger-Friz Records)

Jon Hammond says “the fingers are the singers.'” The latest CD from this exceptional and soulful Hammond organist is the proof. “Late Rent” draws on decades of great recording sessions and top live performances to showcase his own playing and many top jazz and funk artists. It shows why the Hammond organ is one of the most enduring electric instruments and why Hammond is one of its best players. 1. “
The Late Rent Story” – Jon Hammond waited half his life to make this CD – starting with being an underground TV host.
 2. “Swingin’ Funky Jazz & Blues” – Jon Hammond describes his style of music and how he learned to play it.
 3. “Two Hot Tracks” – Jon Hammond recalls one of his first songs – from age 15 – and a great Sunday session.
 4. “Sonny’s Advice” – A little advice on melody from a great sax player went a long way.

Jon Hammond
The NDR Sessions Projekt
(Ham-Berger-Friz Records)

Jon Hammond’s “The NDR Sessions Projekt” brings the soulful jazz organist back to Hamburg to record a collection of standards and originals featuring Lutz Buchner on saxophones, Joe Gallardo on trombone and Heinz Lichius on drums. Recorded in one of Germany’s best studios, the quartet present rich, heartfelt perfomances and infuse the music with a fresh and vibrant sound. 1. “
NDR Sessions” – Jon Hammond says the NDR session was based on a sentimental idea.
 2. “Lutz Buchner” – Jon Hammond wanted to feature saxophonist Lutz Buchner on the CD.
 3. “Bass and Organ” – Jon Hammond says his style is playing bass and organ – on the Hammond.
 4. “Jazz Spirits” – Jon Hammond wanted to rekindle a certain jazz spirit – and take some risks.

April 5th 2011 Jazzkeller Frankfurt Party and Concert Celebrating 25 Years Musikmesse
Annual Musikmesse Warm Up Party in Jazzkeller Frankfurt hosted by Jon Hammond Band will be celebrating 25 consecutive years performing in the International Musikmesse which is the biggest event in the music lights and sound Industry.
Jon Hammond is very proud to announce the line up and happy to return again to the world famous stage of Jazzkeller Frankfurt, the oldest jazz club in all of Germany. Joe Berger guitar and Jon Hammond organ are both from USA, known affectionately to their music friends as Ham-Berger (we’re on a roll! Jon and Joe often say) long-time associates and a fixture at many trade shows, as seen on the long-running NYC based TV show “The Jon Hammond Show” now in 27th year. Tony Lakatos the great Hungarian tenor sax star from Budapest, from the famous Lakatos Family of Hungarian Gypsy music tradition going back generations. Tony is a lifetime member of the HR Hessischer Rundfunk Radio Big Band and currently playing with Herbie Hancock. Tony is an artist endorsee for P. Mauriat saxophones. Jon Hammond is extremely happy Tony will be rejoining the band in Jazzkeller, along with another long-time musical associate, Giovanni Gulino drums from Sicily Italy. Giovanni has been the house drummer for many years in Jazzkeller Frankfurt and Jazz Kneipe, he also comes from a family of musicians, his brother Sandro is an outstanding bass player. 20 years ago Jon was introduced to Tony and Giovanni by Regina Snilovic the owner of the Jazz Kneipe, which is now closed, but formerly presented live music 7 nights a week.
Jon Hammond, Giovanni Gulino, Tony Lakatos 20 years ago in Jazz Kneipe Frankfurt
Tony, Giovanni and Jon were often the house band, by Jon played 207 gigs there with the boys, often joined by other well known musicians in the after hours, including: Attila Cornelius Zoller (June 13, 1927 – January 25, 1998) Jazz guitarist from Visegrád, Hungary R.I.P., Stephen Ferrone drummer of Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers, AWB and Eric Clapton. The music went on there often until 5AM in the morning, it was a meeting point for musicians and new arrivals to the Frankfurt scene as well as old-timers. Jazzkeller Frankfurt is a very special location and atmosphere with a very important history, a favorite of musicians and jazz fans going back to Louis Armstrong, Art Blakey and The Jazz Messengers, Chet Baker and many others. Jon Hammond calls Jazzkeller his “Good Luck Room” and Frankfurt his “Good Luck City”. This is the place where Jon had his very first Frankfurt gigs, the 3rd of a series was a packed full house after Jon Hammond appeared on the local TV program “Hessen Report” on RTL Plus Television. Beatrix Rief moderator host of Hessen Report recommended Jon Hammond’s show at the Jazzkeller and ever since a tradition has been established, Jon Hammond comes back to play there very year and will until the very end. The historic appearance on Hessen Report:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cncN3PvqcQw
First lucky break for Jon Hammond in Frankfurt Germany appearing on Hessen Report RTL TV with big plug from moderator Beatrix Rief for upcoming shows at Jazzkeller. SEIT 1952 WELSTARS “HAUTNAH”

Dr. Wolfgang Sandner

Frankfurt Allgemeine Zeitung, August 1999

It was shot on a cold morning in Dec. 1991 in Venety’s on Sandweg in Frankfurt.
