Nashville Tennessee — Harry Shearer Interview with Jon Hammond just
before Harry accepted the American Eagle Award along with Crystal Gayle
and Patti Smith from the US National Music Council during Summer NAMM
Show – for broadcast on Jon Hammond Show on MNN TV Channel 1 in
Manhattan – Harry’s Wiki https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harry_Shearer

“Harry Julius Shearer (born December 23, 1943) is an American actor,
voice actor, comedian, writer, musician, author, radio host, director
and producer. He is known for his long-running roles on The Simpsons,
his work on Saturday Night Live, the comedy band Spinal Tap and his
radio program Le Show. Born in Los Angeles, California, Shearer began
his career as a child actor. From 1969 to 1976, Shearer was a member of
The Credibility Gap, a radio comedy group. Following the breakup of the
group, Shearer co-wrote the film Real Life with Albert Brooks and
started writing for Martin Mull’s television series Fernwood 2 Night.

He was a cast member on Saturday Night Live on two occasions, between
1979–80, and 1984–85. Shearer co-created, co-wrote and co-starred in the
1984 film This Is Spinal Tap, a satirical rockumentary, which became a
cult hit. In 1989, Shearer joined the cast of The Simpsons; he provides
voices for numerous characters, including Mr. Burns, Waylon Smithers,
Principal Skinner, Ned Flanders, Reverend Lovejoy, Kent Brockman, Dr.
Hibbert and more. Shearer has appeared in several films, including A
Mighty Wind and The Truman Show, has directed two, Teddy Bears’ Picnic
and The Big Uneasy, and has written three books. Since 1983, Shearer has
been the host of the public radio comedy/music program Le Show, a
hodgepodge of satirical news commentary, music, and sketch comedy.

Shearer has won a Primetime Emmy Award, has a star on the Hollywood Walk
of Fame in the radio category, and has received several other Emmy and
Grammy Award nominations. He has been married to singer-songwriter
Judith Owen since 1993. He is currently “artist in residence” at Loyola
University, New Orleans. Shearer was born December 23, 1943 in Los
Angeles, the son of Dora Warren (née Kohn) (d. 2008), a bookkeeper, and
Mack Shearer.[2] His parents were Jewish immigrants from Austria and
Poland.[3][4] Starting when Shearer was four years old, he had a piano
teacher whose daughter worked as a child actress. The piano teacher
later decided to make a career change and become a children’s agent, as
she knew people in the business through her daughter’s work. The teacher
asked Shearer’s parents for permission to take him to an audition.
Several months later, she called Shearer’s parents and told them that
she had gotten Shearer an audition for the radio show The Jack Benny
Program. Shearer received the role when he was seven years old.[5] He
described Jack Benny as “very warm and approachable […] He was a guy
who dug the idea of other people on the show getting laughs, which sort
of spoiled me for other people in comedy.”[6] Shearer said in an
interview that one person who “took him under his wing” and was one of
his best friends during his early days in show business was voice actor
Mel Blanc, who voiced many animated characters, including Bugs Bunny,
Daffy Duck and Barney Rubble.[7] Shearer made his film debut in the 1953
film Abbott and Costello Go to Mars, in which he only had a small part.
Later that year, he made his first big film performance in The Robe.[6]
Throughout his childhood and teenage years he worked in television,
film, and radio.[6] In 1957, Shearer played the precursor to the Eddie
Haskell character in the pilot episode of the television series Leave It
to Beaver. After the filming, Shearer’s parents said they did not want
him to be a regular in a series. Instead they wanted him to just do
occasional work so that he could have a normal childhood. Shearer and
his parents made the decision not to accept the role in the series if it
was picked up by a television network…Cont…

Jon Hammond Show LATE RENT Theme Song – annual Musikmesse Session in Jazzkeller Hofheim – swinging funky jazz and blues as seen on cable TV in New York City for 34 years every late Friday night The Jon Hammond Show – featuring Peter Klohmann the tenor saxophonist, Giovanni Totò Gulino the drummer, Joe Berger aka The Berger-Meister is the guitaris and Jon Hammond at the Sk1 Hammond organ + bass – special thanks Konrad Neupert, Bille Zurück for cooking the beautiful food for us, Alex & Phillip the sound men and the whole Jazzkeller Hofheim Team in Hofheim am Taunus – we’ll be back next year! – Jon Hammond & Band – “Musikmesses-Session mit Jon Hammond
Fr 07.

Jon Hammond just back from Hamburg Germany where I recorded my new album, an official production of NDR Radio in Studio 1 with some of my all-time favorite musicians: Lutz Buchner (Sax), Joe Gallardo (Trombone), Heinz Lichius (Drums), myself-Jon Hammond (XK-3 Organ/Bass) and Engineer: Rudy Grosser in Studio 1 NDR Radio. I’ll be playing some selections rough mixes (not so rough actually!) as my Christmas gift to the listeners, and speaking of Christmas…from inside San Francisco County Jail #8 “Pod E”, a live recording of my trio’s annual Christmas Prison Show with the great tenor saxophonist Larry Schneider & Ronnie Smith Jr. on drums along with myself on keys playing the Christmas classic: “Have Yourself a Merry Christmas”. Every year I tell the ladies “And ya’ better be good!”
And from the Studio 1 NDR Sessions my original blues shuffle: No X-Cess Baggage Blues, some fine playing by Lutz on one of my favorite ballads: My One and Only Love and my theme song: “Late Rent”. Special thanks to Knut Benzner of NDR Radio for co-producing these recordings now heard on KYOU Radio, 1550 on the AM Dial.

And finally ending up back in AFN Europe Headquarters playing Jon Hammond’s theme song: “LATE RENT”, dedicated to YOU of KYOU the your Rent will never be Late! http://www.HammondCast.com

Jon Hammond for Alcatel-Lucent / Bell Labs:
“On stage, on television or on the radio waves
everyday I feel lucky because I’m ALWAYS ON!
Jon Hammond
Musician, television personality and radio broadcaster Jon Hammond boarded a Concorde in 1981 to travel from New York to Paris at supersonic speed, and he never slowed down.
Jon travels the world, touring in Europe and Asia two or three times each year while broadcasting his “HammondCast” morning radio show seven days a week. At home in the United States, Jon splits his time between New York City and San Francisco and performs four to five concerts each month at local hospitals, nursing homes and prisons. His cable television program, “The Jon Hammond Show,” is in its 25th year and going strong.
“In my business, it’s essential to be contactable 24/7. I couldn’t organize as much as I do without being ALWAYS ON.”
Inspired by the Beatles and fascinated by the radio (he built a crystal radio at the age of five), Jon knew he was destined to be a musician. Although that’s a departure from tradition – Jon’s father and grandfather were physicians – Jon carries on the family business in his own way by performing in some of the very hospitals where his father once practiced medicine.
“I’ve seen people get out of their wheelchairs and dance more times than I can count, so I’m happy I can make a difference playing for those who are less fortunate than me.”
Jon has not forgotten those who opened doors for him when he was first starting out in music and broadcasting, and now he uses his radio and cable television shows to do the same for deserving young talent.
Like Jon, we at Alcatel-Lucent are passionate about connecting people through communications technology. In our Bell Labs locations around the world, we’re working on new and exciting innovations in next-generation broadband technology to ensure people like Jon can find even more creative ways to share music, moments and memories. http://www.HammondCast.com

Happy Channukah 2012 / Jewish Holiday Calendar 5773 from NYC folks! We have a huge Menorah in our building in Manhattan, Jon Hammond

*Obama displays menorah rescued from Sandy destruction in Hanukkah ceremony
http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/272949-obama-displays-menorah-rescued-from-sandy-destruction-in-hanukkah-ceremony
President Obama called a 90-year-old menorah saved from a Long Island temple ravaged by Hurricane Sandy a “symbol of perseverance” at the White House Hanukkah ceremony on Thursday.

The president said the menorah stood as one of the “powerful symbols of [the Hanukkah] spirit” in brief remarks before around 600 guests. The lamp, crafted of solid brass, was saved from the Temple Israel of Long Beach. The house of worship was badly damaged as the hurricane battered the New York coast.

“I’m willing to bet it will survive another 90 years, and another 90 years after that,” the president said. “Tonight it serves as another symbol of perseverance.”
Obama, who was joined by first lady Michelle Obama, added that on the sixth night of the Jewish holiday, “we pray its light will bring victims of Sandy and all Americans to a brighter tomorrow.”
The menorah was lit by Rabbi Larry Bazer, an Afghanistan war veteran. Obama noted that Bazer had been deployed in Kabul, Afghanistan, as a military chaplain over the last Hanukkah, joking he had turned down an invitation to the White House ceremony.

“We don’t get that very often,” Obama said. “Usually when we invite people they come.”

Entertainment for the event was provided by the West Point Jewish Chapel Cadet Choir and the U.S. Marine Chamber Orchestra.

HammondCast 17, just back from Hamburg Germany where I recorded my new album, an official production of NDR Radio in Studio 1 with some of my all-time favorite musicians: Lutz Buchner (Sax), Joe Gallardo (Trombone), Heinz Lichius (Drums), myself-Jon Hammond (XK-3 Organ/Bass) and Engineer: Rudy Grosser in Studio 1 NDR Radio.

This evening I played the early bird set with these great musicians, my all-time favorites here – L to R: The great Richard Clements jazz pianist extraordinaire, Mike Comoia the great veteran tenor saxophonist, myself Jon Hammond at the organ and one of the greatest jazz bassists in New York – Bob Cunningham, and he is a killin’ vocalist occasionally and pianist as well – special thanks to Jazz Foundation of America *Note: Photo by Greg Bandy with my camera, thanks Greg! — with Bob Cunningham at Associated Musicians of Greater New York, Local 802 AFM

Folks, I will be the #1 voter today at my polling place – got here 5AM, early shot so you know I am not messing around. In less than 45 minutes I’m going to be pulling the lever for President Obama and everybody in my building is also – I don’t know one person who is voting for the other guy. NYPD is on the scene to make sure there won’t be any hanky panky..this is the big day people! – Jon Hammond

#1 Voter at my polling place – photographic proof – Jon Hammond *Note: The scanning machine is scanning my paper ballot at 6:13AM. It is a little bit tricky, supervisor said mine was A-OK and of course I voted for President Obama and V.P. Joe Biden, Congressman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY), Democratic early bird voter here in New York City – JH — at Times Square

Get on down to your polling place and vote my fellow Americans! *Note: There is a tricky thing on the ballot – it says “Vote for any four” in one group of four. I had the supervisor come in and sure enough he told me that it is really “Vote for ONE of four” – he told me if I voted for all 4 it would invalidate my ballot. Take care to do it correctly folks.

Jon Hammond for Alcatel-Lucent / Bell Labs: “On stage, on television or on the radio waves
everyday I feel lucky because I’m ALWAYS ON! Jon HammondMusician, television personality and radio broadcaster Jon Hammond boarded a Concorde in 1981 to travel from New York to Paris at supersonic speed, and he never slowed down.Jon travels the world, touring in Europe and Asia two or three times each year while broadcasting his “HammondCast” morning radio show seven days a week. At home in the United States, Jon splits his time between New York City and San Francisco and performs four to five concerts each month at local hospitals, nursing homes and prisons. His cable television program, “The Jon Hammond Show,” is in its 25th year and going strong.”In my business, it’s essential to be contactable 24/7. I couldn’t organize as much as I do without being ALWAYS ON.” Inspired by the Beatles and fascinated by the radio (he built a crystal radio at the age of five), Jon knew he was destined to be a musician. Although that’s a departure from tradition – Jon’s father and grandfather were physicians – Jon carries on the family business in his own way by performing in some of the very hospitals where his father once practiced medicine.”I’ve seen people get out of their wheelchairs and dance more times than I can count, so I’m happy I can make a difference playing for those who are less fortunate than me.”Jon has not forgotten those who opened doors for him when he was first starting out in music and broadcasting, and now he uses his radio and cable television shows to do the same for deserving young talent.Like Jon, we at Alcatel-Lucent are passionate about connecting people through communications technology. In our Bell Labs locations around the world, we’re working on new and exciting innovations in next-generation broadband technology to ensure people like Jon can find even more creative ways to share music, moments and memories.

Meet The Incredible Sk1 Hammond with Michael Falkenstein and Jon Hammond

Filmed in Hammond-Showroom Karlstrasse 38
D-89129 Langenau Germany on April 19th 2011
“Meet The Incredible Sk1 Hammond with Michael Falkenstein and Jon Hammond”
First look at this exciting new keyboard product weighing in at 7 kilos, just over 15 lbs., it sounds like a real Hammond B3 organ with Leslie, or a full size grand piano, any type of famous vintage electric piano or synthesizer. This keyboard does it all and with original Hammond drawbars and it’s feather light. Sk1 has a built in USB flash drive input, the keys are ‘bullet proof’ waterfall style keys that can hold up to extreme pressure of rockin’ rock musicians, swinging jazz musicians and can even sound like a huge pipe organ. This film will blow your mind.

On the way walking home by good luck I saw an elusive Google Maps Street View car parked on W.30th St. that had driven all the way from California to New York City, notice the high-tech equipment and California plates, highly-interesting!

I hope nobody breaks in the car, often happens when equipment is left in parked cars in New York City (happened 6 times to me personally)

*note: as soon as I started taking pictures of the Google Maps Street View mobile car, other people started to also and soon there was a crowd of people taking pictures
