Jon Hammond is one of the premier B3 PLAYERS in the world. Jon has played professionally since age 12. Beginning as a solo accordionist, he later played Hammond B3 organ in a number of important San Francisco bands. His all original group HADES opened shows for Tower of Power, Quicksilver Messenger Service and Michael Bloomfield. Eddie Money and Barry Finnerty became musical associates. Moving East he attended Berklee College of Music and played venues as diverse as Boston’s “Combat Zone” in the striptease clubs during the ’70’s and the exclusive Wychmere Harbor Club in Cape Cod, where he was house organist and developed a lasting friendship with House Speaker Tip O’Niel. He also toured the Northeast and Canada with the successful show revue “Easy Living”, and continued his appearances at nightclubs in Boston and New York. Subsequently Hammond lived and traveled in Europe, where he has an enthusiastic following.

MY HOME AWAY FROM HOME
http://www.journal-frankfurt.de/journal_news/Kultur-9/My-home-away-from-home-Jon-Hammond-zum-27-Mal-auf-der-Musikmesse-18308.html?src=funkyjazz&id&rewrite_titel
Jon Hammond: Die Musikmesse. Jahr als The Jon Hammond Show — Music, Travel and Soft News präsentiert.

Mal in Folge.

The smallest car I ever did see: Renault Twizy – Jon Hammond
http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Renault_Twizy
Manufacturer Renault
Production 2012–
Assembly Valladolid, Spain
Transmission Single gear
Battery 7 kWh lithium-ion battery
Electric range 100 km (62 mi)
Length 2.32 m (91 in)
Width 1.19 m (47 in)
Height 1.46 m (57 in)
Curb weight 450 kg (992 lb)
The Renault Twizy is an electric city car (legally classified in Europe as a heavy quadricycle) produced by Renault and manufactured entirely in Valladolid, Spain.[1] The quadricycle has a maximum range of 100 km (62 mi).
The Twizy was released for sales in France in March 2012 and in the UK and several other European countries the following month.[2] The car is available with three models, starting at €6,990 up to €8,490 (in the UK: GB£6,990 to GB£7,400). The sales price does not include the batteries, which will be leased for a monthly fee that includes a replacement guarantee – in case of battery breakdown or insufficient capacity – and roadside assistance.[3][4]
The Twizy was the top-selling plug-in electric vehicle in Europe during 2012.[5] Since March 2012, a total of 9,020 units were sold through December 2012, with Germany, France and Italy as the top selling markets
The concept car was unveiled at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show.[7]
In May 2011, Renault announced that they would produce the Twizy, and began taking reservations.
In November 2010, Japanese carmaker Nissan announced a rebadged concept, called the New Mobility Concept, or NMC. This though is a concept and no production plans have yet been announced.
Construction and safety
The Twizy is an ultra-compact vehicle, with a length of 2.32 m (8 ft), width1.19 m (4 ft) and a height of 1.46 m (5 ft).
The vehicle’s frame and body offer occupants extra protection with its deformable structure, while the outboard position of the four wheels and the lateral beams located either side of the chassis provide protection in case of a side-on impact. The safety retention systems include a driver’s airbag, a four-point safety belt at the front and a three-point one at the rear.
[edit]Models
The Twizy model is electric, and it therefore is part of Renault’s Zero Emissions programme.

Twizy Technic – doors are optional
[edit]Twizy Urban
[edit]Twizy Urban 45
The Twizy range starts with the Urban 45 that is priced at €6,990 in Europe with a monthly battery lease charge of €50.[8] It has a motor power of 4 kW (5 hp), a maximum speed of 45 km/h (28 mph) and can thus be driven in most European countries by drivers from 14 years old with a special driving licence (France, Italy, Spain) or with a moped licence (Belgium, Germany, Netherlands, Austria).[9]
[edit]Twizy Urban 80
The Urban 80 model features a 13 kW (17 hp) electric motor and can drive up to 80 km/h (50 mph). It is priced at €7,690.
[edit]Twizy Colour and Technic
The Colour model is a colourful and ‘fun’ Twizy available for both the 45 and 80 trims.[citation needed]
The Technic model brings additional design elements while sharing the technical features with the Urban. It is priced at €8,490, and it is available for both the 45 and 80 trims.[citation needed]
[edit]Battery

Twizy with charging wire out.
The 6.1 kWh (22 MJ) lithium-ion battery is located underneath the front seat. Both motor variants carry the same weight of 474 kg (1,045 lb),[10] including batteries of 100 kg (220 lb). The range is homologated at 100 km (62 mi). In real conditions, Renault announces around 80 km (50 mi). In worst conditions (high speed, no eco-driving), Twizy can reach 50 km (31 mi).
The battery can be charged with an extendable spiral cable stored beneath a flap at the front of the vehicle. The integrated charger is compatible with roadside battery charging facilities as well as the standard 220 V 10 A household electrical supply. Charging an empty battery takes around three-and-a-half hours.
A planned Renault battery plant near Paris was delayed due to technical constraints. Construction will start in the second quarter of 2012 and production of batteries is expected to begin in 2014 or 2015. In the meantime Renault intends to buy batteries for its EV range from a joint venture between Nissan Motor and NEC as well as LG Chem of South Korea.[11]
Twizy is only supplied with LG Chem modules. Batteries are assembled in Renault Valladolid plant.
[edit]Sales

Since its market launch in March 2012, global sales reached 9,020 units during 2012,[6] making the Twizy the best-selling plug-in electric vehicle in Europe during that year.[5] European sales through December 2012 reached 9,015 units.[6]
In France, a total 1,551 units were registered through June 2012, including 1,212 Twizy 80s and 339 Twizy 45s, representing a market share of 89% in the heavy quadricycle segment, and a market share of 28.5% among all categories of electric vehicles sold in France during the first half of 2012, surpassing the Bollore Bluecar, the top selling highway-capable all-electric car during this time period.[12] The best-selling markets through December 2012 are Germany with 2,413 units and France with 2,232 units, followed by Italy with 1,545 units, Spain with 943, Switzerland with 555 units, and Belgium and Luxembourg with 498 units delivered.[6]
[edit]Carsharing program

Renault tested a carsharing program called Twizy Way in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, France, beginning in late June 2012. During the testing phase the program operated with a fleet of 50 Renault Twizys distributed over a pilot area covering around 27 km2 (10 sq mi), and around 200 were allowed to sign up for testing.[3] Twizy Way opened the service to the general public in December 2012.

Rest In Peace MANDRE aka Michael Andre Lewis – Dec 7, 1948 – Jan 31, 2012 DTI Records Recording Artist, formerly on Motown Label and former band member / bass player with Johnny Guitar Watson folks – Jon Hammond
photo – Palo Alto California — Andre Lewis aka Mandre with Buddy Miles playing guitar – Jon Hammond

http://www.chartattack.com/news/2012/03/08/rip-michael-andre-lewis-aka-mandre-a-mini-retrospective/
According to Amsterdam label Rush Hour’s Facebook page, RIP Michael Andre Lewis aka Mandre, The Vangelis of Motown, passed away on January 31st.

From the age of 15, Lewis demonstrated a preternatural musical gift with his bands Mike Lewis Quartet and Andre Lewis and the New Breed. After a highly successful career during the ‘70s as a session musician for the likes of The Who, Sly and the Family Stone and Jimi Hendrix, Lewis signed to Motown and developed “Mandre,” an artist from outer-space and a character that made him one of the first musicians to play with the idea of cyborg-as-performer. After three albums for Motown, and two hits in “Solar Flight (Opus I)” and “Freakin’s Fine,” Lewis released his final album as Mandre, Mandre 4, in 1982 on his own Futuregroove label.

It seems indolent to refer to Mandre as an electronic musician, because he pulled from so many different genres to create a sound that was unique enough to shun any label, yet so familiar that you could turn on ‘70s radio and hear his influences on almost every song. Disco, funk, soul, pop, and music that was yet to be created can be heard on each of his albums. And he didn’t just pioneer with the music he created, he also pioneered how music was created; He helped design the LinnDrum drum sequencer that helped define ‘80s pop, and was one of the first artists signed to major label to integrate one of hip-hop’s defining instruments, the Roland Tr-808, into his work.

He was an artist that could have been mentioned in the same breath as Kraftwerk and Herbie Hancock, had more people known about his work.

Obit – Lewis, Michael Andre`
Dec 7, 1948 – Jan 31, 2012

International recording artist, Michael Andre` Lewis, wrote and produced for Motown Records in the 1970’s. Andre` Lewis, also known as ‘Mandre’, toured with musical giants, such as Frank Zappa, Johnny Guitar Watson, Aretha Franklin, Buddy Miles, Sly and The Family Stone, Santana, and many, many more, as well as local musicians. Michael Andre` Lewis was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Jr. and Annabell Lewis; grandparents, Harry Lewis Sr. and Dell Moore (Frank); brother, Sherdale Lewis; sister, Roslyn McClain; and grandson, Jermaine Lewis. He is survived by ex-wives, Patricia Lewis of Omaha, NE, and Sabina Ritter of Munich Germany; six children: Robert Lewis, Joy Borsak (Thomas), Toni Lewis, Andrea Scott (Booker) all of Omaha, NE, Riva Lewis of Munich, Germany, and Shawn Dreason of California; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and special friends.
MEMORIAL SERVICE will be Monday, February 6th at Preston Love Arts and Jazz Center, 24th and Lake St., 2pm. Musical Tribute and Musicians Sit-in at Doc’s Place, 40th and Ames Ave., 7pm-Midnight.

This is the same kneipe where The Beatles used to hang out night after night drinking beer during the time when they were playing in The Star Club nearby on Gr. Freiheit. The story that Horst Jankowiak (R.I.P.) told me was that Paul McCartney racked up a pretty big bar tab that was left unpaid for some years, and then he came in to pay up the bill with a pretty good tip back in the 80’s. Paul never forgot Gretel und Alfons! Horst was a great guy, I had the pleasure of meeting him a few times. Pioneering Gypsy jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt lamented that he might be neglected by history, but today the ebulliently swinging “jazz manouche” sound he created with French violinist Stéphane Grappelli is more pervasive than ever. And no one has done more to ignite interest in the idiom than dazzling French guitarist and violinist Dorado Schmitt. Born to Gypsy parents near the German border in Lorraine, Schmitt was weaned on traditional Roma music and Gypsy jazz, but rebelled as a teenager by taking up electric guitar and emulating Jimi Hendrix and Carlos Santana. After a decade of leading his own trio, he was nearly killed in a car crash, and spent years in physical therapy to regain his unrivaled guitar prowess. By the mid-90s he was a leading figure on the international Gypsy jazz scene, where he continues to represent the art form at its highest level. He’s joined by a cast of fiercely swinging compatriots, including the brilliant jazz accordionist Ludovic Beier and violinist Pierre Blanchard, who was tapped by Grappelli himself as a worthy successor. SFJAZZ has presented Schmitt many times over the years and his performances are always among our most popular. — at Herbst Theatre

Jon Hammond with PICO and Star-Club survivors St. Pauli Hamburg

There I am with Pico, when I played on his show about his life working at the legendary Star-Club with the Beatles, Rattles, Chuck Berry and others on the Reeperbahn. This guy was the original deal. He is still there working on the Deutsche Bundesbahn and living on the Hein Hoyer Str. in St. Pauli. Amazing guy and life story. I met some of the originals playing there at the Delphi Music Theatre.

Jon Hammond here folks *Member AFM Local 802 & Local 6:
Here is an excerpt and photos of the very important issues being dealt with head on at today’s Jazz Advisory Board meeting at AFM Local 802 Musicians Union. A ‘who’s who’ of veteran jazz musicians attended and also young pro jazz musicians, including:
drummer BERNARD PURDIE, JUNIOR MANCE, BOB CRANSHAW, JIMMY OWENS, Local 802 Asst to the President JOEL LeFEVRE, Local 802 Recording Vice President BILL DENNISON, CHARLES TOLLIVER, BENNY POWELL, 802 Jazz Rep. TODD BRYANT WEEKS, MATTHEW PLUMMER, RUDY SHERIFF LAWLESS, KEITH DAMES, COLIN DEAN and more. Things are just getting rolling so I personally encourage professional jazz musicians and fans and supporters of America’s Music and Musicians to get involved now.
Thanks for your support!
Sincerely,
