Serial Number of my Stolen Giulietti Accordion 14258

September 1, 2017

Actual Serial Number of my Stolen Giulietti Classic model 127 Accordion is: 14258

Attention Harley Jones & Holda Paoletti-kampl:
Dear Harley & Holda, and Accordion Community:
In my Mom’s house we finally found the actual Serial Number of my Stolen Giulietti Classic model 127,
someone has it – please transmit this information: Serial No. 14258

It was stolen from me in Boston MA in 1976 as I was attending Berklee College of Music. I would really like to
find my instrument someday – it was the best accordion I ever played, and I got it directly from Mr. John Molinari,
and then Art Van Damme introduced me to Julio Giulietti – thanks for your support, – GIULIETTI Accordions

The mystery continues…who is the ‘child’ who’s not a child anymore? I checked with
Lawrence Ferlinghetti and he thought it was Sylvia Beach Whitman daughter of the late great George Whitman and now manager of Shakespeare and Company shop in St. Michel Paris – but the folks at Shakespeare and Company say no that’s not Sylvia – one of my best photos! I shot it with my (then new) Nikon F3 with motor, my first trip to Europe – Jon Hammond *anybody who knows or knows who the (then) child is give me a shout – JH ©JON HAMMOND International

*LISTEN TO AUDIO: HammondCast 17 just back from Hamburg Germany

http://www.archive.org/details/HammondCast_17

HammondCast 17, just back from Hamburg Germany where I recorded my new album, an official production of NDR Radio in Studio 1 with some of my all-time favorite musicians: Lutz Buchner (Sax), Joe Gallardo (Trombone), Heinz Lichius (Drums), myself-Jon Hammond (XK-3 Organ/Bass) and Engineer: Rudy Grosser in Studio 1 NDR Radio. I’ll be playing some selections rough mixes (not so rough actually!) as my Christmas gift to the listeners, and speaking of Christmas…from inside San Francisco County Jail #8 “Pod E”, a live recording of my trio’s annual Christmas Prison Show with the great tenor saxophonist Larry Schneider & Ronnie Smith Jr. on drums along with myself on keys playing the Christmas classic: “Have Yourself a Merry Christmas”. Every year I tell the ladies “And ya’ better be good!”
And from the Studio 1 NDR Sessions my original blues shuffle: No X-Cess Baggage Blues, some fine playing by Lutz on one of my favorite ballads: My One and Only Love and my theme song: “Late Rent”. Special thanks to Knut Benzner of NDR Radio for co-producing these recordings now heard on KYOU Radio, 1550 on the AM Dial.

Tech Talk from Jon Hammond Using Vintage Fender Amplifiers Live XK-1 and XK-3 Series Organ

July 3, 2010

Tech Talk from Jon Hammond Using Vintage Fender Amplifiers Live XK-1 and XK-3 Series Organ

Organist Accordionist Jon Hammond says: “I have been using stock 1965 Fender vintage Band-Master piggyback amps and 1965 Fender Twin Reverb amp with factory JBL speaker option to power my XK-1 and XK-3 organs, also XB-2 prior to that. You can’t beat that combination on the band stand as a portable solution to the classic B3 Leslie combo (I own 2 B3’s, a 1965 and 1959 models with stock 122 and Bill Beer custom high-power Keyboard Products Leslie in flight cases) this sound has served me well for many years. I started playing professional gigs with a blonde 1964 Fender Band-Master I scored from Leo at Leo’s Music in Oakland CA with my electric Giulietti accordion. These amps are well suited to either accordion or Hammond organ by nature. In 1987 I had the good fortune to meet Leo Fender on the way back to USA from the Frankfurt Musikmesse, we had a lengthy discussion in Frankfurt Airport on this topic. Nobody has come up with a better more comfortable sound solution for my own taste yet, and the Hammond Suzuki engineers have done a wonderful job at recreating the sound and feel of the real deal Hammond organs with the XK series, and I still use my XB-2 organs on occasion also.”

Jon Hammond is a member of AFM Local 802 and Local 6 Musicians Union, ASCAP Composer Publisher

and leader of Jon Hammond Band, Host of Jon Hammond Show TV and daily HammondCast radio program

on KYOU Radio.

Reflections Golden Years Bay Area Telegraph Ave. Trident Sausalito Berkeley Folk Festival Howard Hersh KPFA

June 14, 2010

During the golden days of Berkeley when I was a volunteer working under Howard Hersh in KPFA

Studios above Edy’s Ice Cream Shattuck Ave., I bought my first serious Gibson guitar from

Campbell Coe at his little Campus Music Shop  behind the Forum Coffee Shop in the alley, with the
address 2506 Haste St., my

precious Gibson CF-100

sitting around listening to Campbell spin his yarns, rolling Bugler

cigarettes Campbell smoked his stinky cigars and took his sweet time on guitar repairs but it was

worth the wait.

Barry Olivier’s Berkeley Folk Festival was where it was at, I was on the volunteer staff and

jammed with many of the acts on my electric Giulietti accordion, backing up Shlomo Carlebach

in the Greek Theatre with John Whitelaw on Fender Bass on the program with Joan Baez, Phil Ochs,

John Fahey, Reverend Gary Davis, Furry Lewis, Country Joe and The Fish, and the Pauley Ballroom

T-Bone Walker, James Cotton, Kaleidoscope and Janis Ian chain smoking.

Soon after I got my very first electric piano, Wulitzer 140b , Ralph from Blue Cheer had it in a hock

shop in SF, 50 bucks and the pawn ticket and I was in business

Skipping some years, when I came back from living in Europe for 6 years I played every Sunday

at the old Trident Horizons in Sausalito with 2 of the musicians from Sons of Champlin band,

guitarist Terry Haggerty and James Preston drums along with Bennett Friedman tenor sax and

myself on Hammond XB-2 organ and bass

We had some good times in the Trident in the old days so it was good to be back on the

bandstand there with these cats.
