Jon dedicated this performance to the memory of that great comic talent Robin Williams.

Jon Hammond is one of the premier Hammond B3 players in the world. Jon
has played professionally since the age of twelve. Beginning as a solo
accordionist, he later played Hammond B3 organ in a number of important
San Francisco bands. Today, Jon plays and tours extensively and has a
large international following. Jon has also hosted a number of popular
radio and TV shows.

*note from Jon: When
I got back to San Francisco I felt compelled to drive over to Robin’s
house and pay my respects: Robin Williams’ Sea Cliff San Francisco home –
farewell my old neighbor. My girlfriend and I met him one rainy night
just about here from where I took
this photo. He was sitting in his Volvo SUV wagon with bike rack on the
back. When we walked by the driver door with umbrella suddenly the door
popped open and out jumped Robin – he said “Hey Kids! Be careful when
you walk around here at night, the cars come around the corner fast!” He
was still wearing the fatigues from his USO Tour – we talked for a long
time standing in the rain there near China Beach and then he said good
night and walked across the street and went in his house. RIP Robin

Jon began his musical career at age 12 in the San Francisco Bay Area playing organ and accordion in bands and solo engagements, first recording studio dates 1968 when he met Robert Moog who personally delivered the Moog III to San Francisco Radical Laboratories where Jon was working at the time and jamming daily with members of Quicksilver Messenger Service, he next joined original rock band Hades with which he played until moving East to attend Berklee.

Playing 7 nights a week in Boston’s notorious Combat Zone next lead to touring with successful show band Easy Living and then became house organist at the exclusive Wychmere Harbor Club Cape Cod MA where he played private parties for Tip O’Neill Speaker of The House. Returning to SF for a reunion concert in 1980 with Eddie Money and members of Tower of Power, next Jon moved to Europe where he lived and played for a number of years, still playing annually where he has an enthusiastic following. The great Jon Hammond and Joe Berger played a “Mini-Concert” at our booth during the recent NAMM Expo in Anaheim California. Jon, seen here playing the XK Pro system swung like a beast as always, and Joe’s nimble chops showed that the G27 Guitar Leslie makes a fine Jazz Guitar amp. The crowd that gathered bopped and boogied to the groove-who needed a drummer? Not these guys!! Classic Hammond Organ Jazz is thing of beauty and a joy forever, Thanks to Jon and Joe for a fine performance!
